A node must recognize
- Its global unicast address
- Its link-local address
- Its loopback address
- All nodes multicasts
- Solicited node Multicast for each of its unicast & anycast addresses
- Multicast addresses of all other groups it belongs to.
Routers have additional addresses for router groups they must recognize

The Provider based address scheme is designed so that the IPv6 addresses can be easily delegated into sub-hierarchies of issuers,
