Password Stealing is EASY

  1. First Pass
    1. Hacker gets /etc/password through any one of a hundred means
    2. Hacker uses CRACK to get a single account (or root if they are lucky)

  2. Second Pass
    1. Hacker uses scripts/utilities/etc to insure a return trip.
    2. Hacker attempts to get root.
    3. Hacker attempts to install a sniffer or password stealer.
    4. Hacker hides files cleverly from normal file scans.
    5. Hacker runs sniffers in small time slots (usually 7-9) sometimes at random.
